A Karen Hill Tribe in Chiang Mai dedicated to the healthy coexistence of our elephants and staff

We are a small, family-run group of 5 people. We are trying our best to spread accurate knowledge about elephant and Karen Culture.

Elephants have always been highly revered by the Karen people. That being said, the places these elephants hold in our lives have shifted over time. They are now part of our families and we seek nothing more than to see them live ou free and healthy lives.

Our elephants spend most of their time on tours or out in the jungle and their nights under a sheltered overhang with keepers sleeping nearby. When our elephants are in the paddock overnight they are given fresh piles of food to graze from; enough to sustain them until the morning hours. When our elephants are in the forest, they are given both the opportunity to graze and fresh piles of food to pick at.

This camp was created in an effort to preserve traditional Karen ways of coexisting with elephants and nature.  You can learn more about us here.

WHAT WE OFFER

Elephant Freedom Village offers the unique opportunity to witness elephants interacting with their natural environment. Because our elephants have been pulled from camps, which didn’t benefit their health, they are accustomed to interacting with humans. They are very docile and curious creatures!

You will get the opportunity to feed them special food before walking them out to the forest for grazing.

Come meet and play with our baby elephant; he is quite curious and likes to mess with new people.

Learn about the way of life of a Karen Hill Tribe in Chiang Mai and become one of the family for a day.
